Sunday, I had an OPEN HOUSE at a great property in West Chester. You see, this property is a very nice place but it hasn’t sold yet. Great house, great neighborhood and great price. Why, one might ask, hasn’t anyone chosen this house? A house remains on the market for a “normal market period”, it needs the “right person” to walk in the door. If the house has the right combination of attributes for the people who will live in it, and when they have the ability to purchase it, then they decide that it is their perfect home. And believe it or not, when one person wants it, there are others who want it too. As long as the price is right, it happens this way all the time.
Fear, anxiety, responsibility, affordability, work; these are the things people think of when they are making a decision to purchase a home. Of course these emotional feelings come into play. It is an emotional journey, “where should I live?”
I need to quote her, she is a young mom with 3 children under the age of 6 and let’s face it, it’s all about “Family”.
“ Picture YOU and YOUR family living in this house… Or, picture the wonderful parties you could throw and how you could entertain your guests…… In a world where the real estate market has been lost, here sits this house in the perfect neighborhood. Here….. In Chester County…. the market is still plentiful…. Here in this house is where YOU could raise your family…. Here, in this house is where you could start your family.”
What holds back a person from making such a big commitment. RESOURCES for one. Do I have enough money? Will the house turn out the way I want it? Will I like this location, moving is so “permanent”.
We live in a time where we are bombarded with information which helps us form our impressions. We are influenced by our peers, our values, our expectations for ourselves……in a HOUSE, we want it to be the “perfect” situation.
And when the price is right, it all falls into place.
At the open house, there were 8 separate “parties of people” who walked through. I know it is the “right combination” for at least one of them.
