Shooting on Market Street in West Chester

West Chester Borough Police are investigating a Tuesday shooting that occurred at approximately 9:11 p.m. to the rear of 212 E. Market St., according to a West Chester University website.

The shooter is not in custody at this time and, per Action News, the victim has passed away.

Police described the suspect as a black male wearing a white shirt and black hat. No further description is available and the direction of travel was not provided.

As a precautionary measure, the campus community was warned to avoid walking alone, to limit alcohol, to use well-lit sidewalks after dark, let someone know of your plans and to be aware of your surroundings.
